ABOUT THE EVENT

What would it take for you give up your First Amendment Rights for a day? More important, do you know all five of your 1A rights? According to The 2018 State of the First Amendment Survey, 40% of Americans could not even name one of the five 1A Freedoms.

These freedoms are freedom of speech, religion, press, petition, and assembly. In order to test how aware BVU students are of their 1A rights, I offered students free cupcakes from the Storm Lake Bakery in exchange for forfeiting their freedoms for the day. I wanted to see who would take the cupcake and who would turn me down, and why.
